  • Who We Are

The Joplin Rifle & Pistol Club seeks to encourage organized rifle and pistol shooting among citizens of the United States, in order to impart greater knowledge of the safe handling and proper care of firearms, as well as to promote improved marksmanship. The club’s objectives and purposes also include the promotion of honesty, good fellowship, self‑discipline, teamwork, and self‑reliance, which are essential to good sportsmanship and form a foundation for patriotism.

    What We Are

The Joplin Rifle & Pistol Club is a private club located in Galena, KS. Access to the range is restricted to members and their guests, except on public sight‑in days and during competitions that are open to the public. If you visit the range on a public day, please observe all posted signs and promptly locate a club member to introduce yourself.

We have five gun ranges available to our members, four of which operate independent of one another. We offer a 100 yard ‘small bore’ range, which has provisions for placing targets at 25 and 50 yards. We have a 25 yard outdoor ‘plinking range’ which is utilized for pistols, some small bore fun, and we ask our members to use this range when bore sighting or checking an initial zero on any rifle. We also have the ‘big range’ which has target frames and berms at 100, 200, and 300 yards. The big range shares some zones of fire with the trap range, which is located on the far west end of the property. The indoor range is 20 yards, and is rated for pistols and small bore rifles with a 1500 feet per second limit on ammunition.

We host a variety of shooting competitions every year. Please check the Club Calendar page for more information.
